Felisa Wolf-Simon and her team have found a microbe bacteria that uses arsenic instead of phosphorus in "some of its basic cellular processes". Arsenic and Phosphorus are next to each other on the periodic table of elements, in which case they resemble each other. So much so, that when we humans ingest arsenic; our body mistakes it for phosphorus and we die.
They are currently being funded by NASA's Astrobiology Research department. These findings may indicate that either they were from alien beginnings, or a whole different genesis than the one we are apart of (everything on Earth that we knew about up until now).
