Fuel Pump Inertia Switch

This is an inertia switch that is hooked up to the fuel pump of your vehicle and designed to function flawlessly. The switch is meant to detect the massive loss inertia caused by an accident and cut the flow of fuel to the engine. The switch works by sensing the impact of a weighted ball against an internal wall. If the force is large enough to send the ball through the wall and into the switch, it cuts off the flow of fuel.

This innovation is proof of the effectiveness of inertia switches in vehicles already. If an inertia switch can be used to cut off the flow of gas, it could easily be implemented into other aspects of the vehicle. There may be other companies playing with a idea that could be similar to that of DBS.
