Info Bits 3 - Ariel Atom in Canada

The Ariel Atom 3 is a car that was designed in Britain by Ariel, a small company that builds the Atom exclusively.  The car has no doors and no roof, it's basically a road legal go-kart.  Having seen one of these thing driving around, they are are completely bonkers.  The selling price is around $50,000 which includes a 2L Honda engine, which seems small but the car weighs 1/2 a tonne so it's power-weight ratio is one of the highest in the industry.  My infobit has to do with the car not being sold in Canada.  At the moment, the Canadian government deems the car to be unsafe for public roads and thus cannot be sold in Canada, unless it used for track purposes only.

However, it is legal in the United States which has stingier driving laws.  In California for instance, they have the highest standard for driving, yet it is legal there to drive.

Hopefully in the future the Canadian Road and Safety Groups allow the car for public roads as it is one hell of a machine.
