Info Bits 5 - Rotary Supercars 2800hp car

For those gear heads, you thought the Bugatti Veyron had a lot of power at 1000HP?  That's nothing compared to what Rotary Supercars wants to do.  They plan on unveiling a car which uses 8 rotors and multiple turbos to produce an engine which develops 2800HP.  Currently the car doesn't exist and everything is just here say, but prototyping has begun on a "weaker" model with 1200HP, with the 2800 still in the planning stage.  Rotary Supercars is based in Germany and the company is still relatively new and looking for investment partners.  What this means for the automotive industry is the possible return of the rotary engine, which is substantially different then the one used in cars today.  As well, with rotary engines, power can be achieved much easier than the standard engine of today, so the limits seem to be raised at what is possible.  That is, if they ever get the thing working.

Personally I don't see it happening, the numbers are too farfetched and insane.  They claim 0-400kph in 25 seconds out of the one they are prototyping now.  That is basically going from knot to Bugatti's top speed in half a minute, and Bugatti had the full support of VW and the financial backing needed for the beast.  Rotary Supercars probably won't have the same financial backing so I really don't think this thing will ever exist, but I really really hope they prove me wrong.
