Info Bits 7 - Martin Jetpack
The Martin Jetpack is powered by a 200hp engine which turns a pair of carbon-Kevlar rotors for lift. It is all housed in a carbon-fiber shell and uses gasoline to power it. The man behind the jetpack is Glenn Martin who has spent over 3 decades perfecting the design. In theory it can take a user up 8,000ft in the air, though it hasn't been tested. It also has a fly time of about 30 hours on one tank of gas before fill up. Field tests have started and the device costs $100,000 at the moment.
As someone who has always been fascinated by jetpacks, I am really excited at the prospect of flying around, especially at heights of 8,000 feet! Although at a price of an Audi R8 supercar, it's going to be a hard sell and most buyers will likely be the ones with money, AKA ones who probably shouldn't be flying these things for insurance reasons.
