What the Viper Smartstart is is an app which can turn your car on and off, but can also lock the car, open the truck, sound the alarm and I believe set the temperature for the newer vehicles. The negatives to this product is its price which is extremely high relative to its competition. For a good car starter installed it can run around $550, for this one you're looking at $850+ after all is said and done, plus add the cost of the app which you have to pay for monthly. When I was getting mine installed I really wanted to get this one, then I found the price and it was an instant turn off.
On one hand, this is a really great app and product, you can start your car from anywhere in the world if you are connected to wi-fi, so you'll never have to enter a cold car again, but is the price really worth it? In my opinion no. Unless you can afford a $60,000 car, then I suppose it would be worth it, but for a student who owns a car worth $9,000 it really isn't worth it to spend close to a grand just to start my car.
